Why | to raise awareness of the sustainable redevelopment of The Trestle, an abandoned elevated railway soon to be converted into a recreational destination for runners, walkers, cyclers, and skaters. The Trestle will allow exploration of the metro St. Louis river ways and protected habitats and will bridge multiple neighborhoods while revitalizing the community and encouraging active lifestyles
Who | St. Louis City Mayor Francis Slay offered an enthusiastic welcome, Great Rivers Greenway Executive Director Susan Trautman thanked all those who have helped to launch this unique project and encouraged attendees to get involved in supporting it
Highlights | a trip to the top of The Trestle overlooking the street party below, music by Gene Dobbs Bradford Blues Experience, and an array of local food trucks
