HIGHLIGHTS: Schoemehl's announcement of a $75,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to be matched with a grant by private commitments. Grand Center investment opportunities will help increase pedestrian safety, provide landscape enhancement and more.

The Little Bit Foundation-Big Fun Event

  • Why: To raise awareness and inform the community about the work Little Bit does to provide disadvantaged school children the items they need to succeed in school. The foundation creates a positive environment for growth and it is all done by building strong relationships and partnering with St. Louis schools. Who: Event chairs Allison Reichart, Lindsey Suntrup, Megan Hudson and Jamie Sokolik. Highlights: The band, The Distance, performed a live concert, a raffle was held for items including a Messy Girl package containing a coupon for two hours of Messy Girl home organization, cardinals items, a one night stay at the Moonrise Hotel and a $30 gift certificatee to Eclipse restaurant, along with many other items. The Little Bit Foundation Young Professionals board VP Lindsey Suntrup spoke along with board president Suzie Andrews.

Friends of Wings at The Muny

Through pediatric hospice-related services, Friends of Wings works to provide bereavement specialists, activities to help children deal with the loss of a loved one, and the Stepping Stones program which helps families announce an illness and deal with its outcome. Who: Event chairs Laura Williams, Leslie L'Hommedieu and Christy Cole. Highlights: A belly dancer demonstrated her moves while a fortune teller predicted the future. Kids were invited to make magic genie puppets, dig for treasure and get their faces painted.

WHO: Executive director Scott Walker, Jennifer March, Adam and Danielle Jokisch, Steve Stack, Ann Rathert, Jaimee Hall, Tara McCutcheon, Kristi Randall, 230 golfers and other supporters. HIGHLIGHTS: A record of more than $100,000 was raised! Ian Soutar's hole-in-one won him a $500 American Express gift card. Top teams were from Lewis & Clark: J.T. Trvdik, Kim Shearburn, Mark Bumgarner, Raj Bhuyan; and from Tavern Creek: Brian Baker, Mike Brammell, Matt Ott and James Schuring.
