Who: Party Chairlady Mary Strauss and Co-Host Joan Quiksilver Highlights: On April 14, 2012, 100 years to the day, the historic Fabulous Fox Theatre presented a once-in-a-lifetime experience: a recreation of the last dinner on the Titanic. This historic First Class menu and details of the evening were meticulously researched to authentically replicate the sumptuous eleven course meal with the accompanying wines that were served on that fateful night. Upon their arrival at the theatre, guests received a boarding pass and an envelope with the name and historical biography of an actual First Class passenger. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres of the Edwardian Era were served in the Grand Lobby of the theatre, while musicians played music from 1912. The “passengers” then proceeded to the stage to feast upon the epicurean dinner and nine accompanying wines. Between courses, guests were entertained by musicians performing the authentic music played on the ship that evening. Guests were also able to view images of the ship and its passengers and hear stories told by the Titanic’s most notable luminaries about the ship, their personal remembrances, and its courageous passengers and crew. These notable passengers included Benjamin Guggenheim, John Jacob Astor, the “unsinkable” Molly Brown, Isadore and Ida Strauss, and Captain Edward John Smith. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for guests to be part of “living history” and go back in time to experience the elegance, grandeur and luxury of the R.M.S. Titanic, while enjoying a gastronomical extravaganza from another era. This unique event was made possible by the partnership between the Fox Theatre and L'Ecole Culinaire. Guests were encouraged to dress in the style of the period.
